2022 Hyundai Elantra Garage Door Opener Guide
The 2022 Hyundai Elantra does not come equipped with a built-in garage door opener or HomeLink system. This feature was available on some upper trim levels of the 2021 Elantra model, but it has been discontinued for the 2022 model year.
Alternative Solutions
While the 2022 Elantra doesn't have an integrated garage door opener, there are still ways to conveniently operate your garage door:
Aftermarket HomeLink Systems
You can install an aftermarket HomeLink system in your 2022 Elantra. These systems typically mount on the sun visor or dashboard and offer similar functionality to built-in systems.
Smartphone-Based Solutions
Many modern garage door openers can be controlled via smartphone apps. This allows you to open and close your garage door using your phone, which you likely already have with you in the car.
Traditional Remote
You can still use the traditional garage door remote that came with your opener. Consider keeping it in a convenient location in your vehicle, such as a center console or attached to your sun visor.
Future Hyundai Models
If having an integrated garage door opener is important to you, you may want to consider other Hyundai models or wait for future Elantra releases. Many other Hyundai vehicles do offer HomeLink systems, typically in higher trim levels.
For those models equipped with HomeLink, the programming process is generally straightforward:
1. Clear existing codes by pressing and holding the outer two HomeLink buttons until the indicator light flashes.
2. Hold your garage door remote 1-3 inches from the HomeLink buttons.
3. Simultaneously press and hold both the HomeLink button you want to program and the button on your garage door remote.
4. When the indicator light changes from slow to rapid blinking, release both buttons.
5. Test the programmed button by pressing it. If it doesn't work, you may need to press a "learn" button on your garage door opener unit and repeat the process.
Remember, while this feature isn't available on the 2022 Elantra, Hyundai continues to offer it on other models and may reintroduce it in future Elantra versions.
